Pen Robit, Cambodia
Although he is only 23 years of age, Pen Robit has already developed a reputation and a following as one of the most exciting emerging painters operating in Cambodia today. While his painting style has some similarities to Jackson Pollack’s drip technique, and he uses the same type of paint (enamel), his work is more representational and the subject matter draws on local cultural iconography as well as current social and political issues facing Cambodia today.
Pen grew up in one of the main cultural centres in Cambodia, Battambang, and attended the now-legendary Phare Ponleu Selpak Art School in the same city. His art education was further enhanced through his studies at the highly respected Pivaut Applied School of Art in FranceClick here to view Pen Robit's biography
